Heavy rains from August 2 to 6, 2019 led to flooding in some slum areas of Pune. Around 1,500 houses in Adarsh Indira Nagar, Qatarwadi, and Shantinagar in Vishrantwadi were flooded, washing away all household belongings. The people here were staying in nearby schools for the next 5 days. The Surajya project distributed ration to 1,038 houses in the above slums. Also, due to the flood water entering the slums, people there started suffering from various diseases, for which a health camp was organized.
